Simple Shift Dress or Top

In this 3 hr class you will learn how to sew a simple shift dress or top from this beautiful Colette Laurel pattern.

You will be guided through how to pick your size, read the pattern and all the steps to completing this relatively simple make to include inserting an invisible zipper and using bias binding.

Skill Level:

Intermediate (this pattern calls for fabrics with a slight drape which may be slippery and slightly more difficult to work with therefore you will need to have a couple of projects under your belt and be confident with a sewing machine)

Size Range:

Bust 33-46″
Waist 25-39″
Hips 35-50″

Fabric/Notions Required:

Dress Versions
115cm – 2.5-2.75 metres
153cm – 1.75-2.5 metres

Top Version
115cm – 1.75-2.0
153cm – 1.0-1.75

You will need to bring the above lengths of fabric dependent upon your size and this pattern is designed for a lightweight woven fabric and if you wish to use a sheer fabric you can choose to interline your dress. In order to make the dress in the time stipulated I would recommend a medium weight crepe for example a rio, double or luxury crepe. You could also use a viscose or a viscose blend.

You will also need 2 metres of double fold bias tape and a 22″ concealed zipper.

Pattern and threads will be provided.
